The main social factor introduced when the clergy was created was the institution of marriage. Previously, monogamy had been advocated, but there had been no official method of documenting coupling.
In modern years, marriage had trickled down to even the lowest classes, and Karbean sexual rules have been generally accepted, if not in practice than in theory. In the famous Case of Yorka Keno, prostitution was officially outlawed in BM 710, only a few decades ago. Though Karbea had previously been on the decline, the ruling surprisingly provoked a jump in Karbean enrollment.
Karbeans are supposed to obey their rulers and not kill. Punishments for criminals are harsh, and members of the religion are told not to associate with “murderers, thieves, and sundry villains.”
