Basic Grammar

Meroned has a relatively limited vocabulary, with fourteen basic modifications and conjugations which make it practical. Many words are derived from or related to Korbeth equivalents (e.g., Korbeth dáth to Meroned dat, meaning “alive”). Unlike in Korbeth, however, sentence components are in SVO (subject-verb-object, with direct object coming before indirect object) order, further indicating a more distinct ancestral language (in scholarly terms known as Nadat).

Thus, the sentence

I (s.) carry (v.) the cat (d.o.) to her (i.o.)

would be rendered

Y (s. - usually just implied) aditufa (v.) antizh (d.o.) a elzh. (i.o.)

There are no articles in Meroned, which is a convention likely borrowed by
Aywen, in which, although they exist, omission is common.
