Came to the throne at the age of eleven, when his father died unexpectedly. Dazhan himself left much governing to the newly created zal a debedo, reigned for thirty-two years, and died at the age of forty-three. His greatest achievement is considered to be the construction of the Kassen Clock Tower, which remains an icon of culture and beauty in Kassen.
His wife, Emely, left her mark. She was said to be a blazing comet of a woman. Many disapproved, but it was she who got the first woman into the clergy of Karbea and she took a more active role in governing than her husband did. She outlived him by more than thirty years and, with her last breath, said, “If I had to do it all again I would have been a wiser woman. I would have been God.”
