He was already forty when he came to the throne and had little time to accomplish anything as king, since he only reigned nine years. It was said of him, however, that he “worried always about the war and was never content to merely let things rest. He feared that if it was not nipped in the bud, it would grow and become a weed in the hearts of all our people.” He had remarkable foresight.
