Hear, O People!
On yestereve, a hand slipped and into my wine fell poison of the foulest nature. It has taken my two daughters to the Creator and I am left on this world with barely the strength to move my hand.
And yet I stand before you. Through some accident of fate, I am left alive, crying out with a thousand voices in pain. I have no recourse but to believe that there is some reason for this, though I know not what it may be. My only thought is that this war must be ended and I am the only one who has the capacity to do it.
I do not know where I find the strength to be here today. I should have died last night, but when the pain in my gut was so intense I could not bear to breathe, I raised my eyes and I imagined I saw the faces of my daughters staring down at me.
They had died but hours before.
I am not a man of great belief, my friends. I do not know what awaits me when I die; I do not adhere to the noble religions of my people.
But I have faith.
I have faith that I will be able to overcome this test. That though I may never walk again, still with all my heart and soul I will pray! Because I love this land. I love it with my very spirit and I feel my ancestors as if they follow in my footsteps, though I know they came before me. I carry not only my love, but also their own that surpassed mine a thousand fold.
I am not worthy for this, but it has been set to me and I must take up the burden I have been forced to bear.
The voice I speak with is not my own. It is with a thousand voices that I cry, we will not give up! If these men want to force our wives and take our children, then I say, we will resist with every last breath in us, and even when they break our bodies, they cannot break our spirits! I will not fall. I will stand until my breath no longer comes and even then my sword will not falter.
Because the thousand voices that make up my words are shouting, now, Go forward! And do what I cannot. Take up the sword that my fingers no longer grasp and come to these men who would destroy our country and put it through their hearts! Only then shall we have peace.
That is my faith.
