West Province

West Province is the wealthiest in Meron. Not only is its capital, Anwall, the site of the king's second palace, but it also contains the richest and purest clay deposits in the kingdom. The pottery from West Province is considered the best in the nation; western potters are famous for their unusual glazes and patterns, which are prized worldwide.

Though its wealth is extensive, West Province also has the fewest poor people of any of the southern nations. It is considered the "classiest" province: Anwall is its only really major city, but all of its walled towns are relatively clean, and the latest fad is piped water to people's homes. Only the rich can afford such luxury, but for those who can it makes life much easier and has dramatically reduced child drowning deaths as a result of wells closing in wealthier homes.

Anwall is also the childhood home of King Tamen, and he and his family still take frequent trips to visit the city, which is famous for its red walls and its tiled rooftops.
