Though it is the home province of Queen Ella, Pinar is chiefly known for its central role in the northern uprising of early LM. Its only town of any size is Dammel, the provincial capital, which is little more than a modest fishing port. However, the overthrow of the governor there and the subsequent people's rebellion nearly caused a civil war. The people who started the uprising were initially interested in sucession, but ultimately were defeated in their abortive attempt to conquer Myrelyr Province.
Though the uprising left many embittered in Pinar Province, in the aftermath it largely returned to its prior state of relative obscurity. the southern half of the province is richly soiled but heavily forested, so the majority of people live in the north and fish on the rocky coast. A further number of people, who style themselves the Kwedith, live in the mountains, but they interact heavily with the lowland fishermen and do a good business shipping luxury goods south to Kassen and further into the lower provinces.
